Knowledge and practice of health workers to tooth avulsion in a teaching hospital in Lagos, Nigeria

 Objective: The health care workers (HCW) may be the first contact of a tooth avulsion case. This study aimed to assess their knowledge and practice emergency management avulsion.
 Methods: cross-sectional was carried out among in teaching hospital, using self-administered questionnaires containing closed open-ended questions, on avulsion. Data collected analyzed EPI info version 7 statistical software.
 Results: A total 362 were administered with response rate 90.4%. 331 between ages 18 years 64years. There 200 (60.4%) females 131(39.6%) males (ratio 3:2). Less than half (41.7%) respondents rated as fair. About 156 (47.1%) reported that primary should replaced into socket. how hold avulsed 217 (65.6%) incorrect. More 185 (55.9%) answered teeth, will stored dry medium. half, 146 (44.1%) knew appropriate storage media used. Only third 122 (36.9%) confident replant an tooth. 114 (34.4%) HCW had encountered case, most dentists nurses. quarter 92 (27.7%) referred while (16.1%) did nothing tooth.
 Conclusion: is need increase HCW, so immediate replantation can practiced thereby improving prognosis for replanted teeth.
